Benny Chang
is a Mandarin-Chinese TV news writer and radio broadcasting
announcer in the San Francisco Bay Area. His professional life
started from instructional technology related career in 1991,
when he served for Taiwan Army as a second lieutenant in Kinmen
Island. As a Training Officer, Chang developed many training
related projects; he also created training manuals by using
computer-it was a pioneering work at that time.
After his discharge from Taiwan Army in 1993, Chang joined the
Department of Radio, TV and Film at Shihshin University, Taipei,
Taiwan as a teaching assistant. Chang taught the basic broadcasting
production course, and often wrote syllabus, event proposals
and professional articles for the RTF Department. He also planned
and hosted his first radio show forum on vocal music at Shihshin
Radio Station. In addition, he worked at Good News Radio Station
as a part-time host and producer.
Chang left Shihshin University after two and half years, six
months before the expiration of his contract. He joined Wealth
Group, the most famous financial and economic publishing group
in Taiwan, as a host and producer of a live radio program relating
to finance, economy and stock markets. He was an executive producer
of a TV stock program that broadcasted on CTS, one of the four
biggest TV networks in Taiwan. During that period, Chang learned
professional and valuable knowledge about news broadcasting
and investment. Since he launched a program about investment
knowledge, Chang had tried to arrange effective but useful topics
for educating his audiences.
Chang migrated to the U.S. in 1998 and joined KPST 66 of San
Francisco as a Mandarin-Chinese TV news reporter. He became
the news editor after six months, and was in charge of news
line-up and script pre-approval department. In 2000, he left
KPST and switched to the Web media, e21time as a reporter and
columnist. Chang, as a witness of the Internet boom, had reported
many stories about information technology and e-commerce, while
he was acquiring Internet related knowledge. Chang went back
to KPST in 2001 as a news anchorman and the chief news editor,
right after the e21times was shut down, and worked for the station
until the company sold. Chang works for another Mandarin-Chinese
TV station of the Bay Area, KTSF 26 as a news writer, and a
Mandarin-Chinese Bible study radio program announcer (reader)
of Family Radio, an international Christian radio network based
on Oakland.
Chang received his BA degree in educational media and library
sciences at Tamkang University, Taipei, Taiwan in 1992. With
his instructional technology and media as background, he has
decided to go back to graduate school for acquiring current
knowledge in instructional technology, and completed his MA
degree in instructional technology at San José State
University, San José, California in May, 2003.
